Fire Safety and Firewise USA® Recognition

Earlier this year, the Board of Directors took a proactive step in safeguarding our community by appointing a Fire Safety Committee. Their primary mission is to lead our efforts toward achieving official recognition through the Firewise USA® program, a national initiative focused on helping communities reduce the risk of wildfire damage.

This is especially relevant to us here in Riverside, where dry conditions and high winds can increase wildfire risk during much of the year. By working toward Firewise USA® recognition, our community is taking a smart and structured approach to fire prevention, preparedness, and education.

What Does This Mean for Our Community?

The Firewise USA® process involves:

• Assessing wildfire risks in and around our neighborhood.

• Developing a community wildfire mitigation plan based on expert recommendations.

• Engaging residents through education and involvement.

• Taking measurable action, such as clearing brush, managing landscaping, and improving emergency preparedness.
